Which containers work best with gel wax?

Clear glass jars and bottles give the strongest result. The candle is meant to be seen through, and a transparent container shows the gel body, the color layers, and any embedded objects without a filter. Opaque or heavily tinted vessels hide exactly what the material does best.

Practical container rules follow from the material itself. The gel sets around 56 °C and every pour goes in warm, so confirm at the sample stage that your chosen glass handles repeated pours without stress. How do you keep layered colors crisp?

Jelly wax takes color cleanly in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The dye disperses through the clear gel, and the finish stays translucent — heavy layering does not turn muddy the way it can in opaque wax.

The rule for clean color bands is simple: pour thin layers and pour slowly. A thin layer sets before the next color goes in, so each band keeps a sharp edge instead of bleeding into the one below.
